The Songs of Eru and Melkor
Song of Eru
Known as “The One” and all-powerful
Eru’s knowledge is most bountiful
His curious power to bestow life came
With one imperishable flame
As the supreme being of creation
Eru is Middle-Earth's singular foundation
However, he would rarely intervene
Although he is most keen
Eru possesses unlimited goodness
While condemning Melkor’s darkness
He has tried every kind of bad deed
But Eru will not bend to a bad seed
From the Music of the Ainur, Eru’s resume is vast
This great music created the universe Eä built to last
The Ainur entered and shaped the world then
And later Eru Ilúvatar created his children: the elves and men

Song Of Melkor
The ultimate rival to the creator
Corrupting good with an evil greater
Eru’s Music of the Ainur?
Oh, challenger Melkor was the leading hater
Forget hope and welcome Melkor’s evil
He disrupted the Ainur’s music and defied Eru’s will
Melkor keeps everyone afraid
Unless you want a heavy price paid
With a rebellious and mighty stance,
Eru never stood a chance
Melkor acts how he feels
Not to help, but to steal
Also known as Morgoth
Melkor will not stop until every butterfly turns moth
Soon all light and joy will fail
And misery will forever prevail

I decided to use peaceful and heaven-like instrumental music for Eru’s song to sound like the voices of Ainur. This music overall sounds very beautiful, harmonious, pure, and evokes an emotional response when listening to it because it is such an angelic blend. I developed the lyrics to Eru’s song by describing him as a creator and possessing an ultimate goodness that opposes Melkor. I also included what he created using his power. On the other hand, I chose very violent and aggressive sounding instrumental music for Melkor’s song to reflect that he is Eru’s complete opposite like good versus bad. It’s chaotic and lacking structure which I think Melkor would like. The lyrics I wrote for his song revolve around his desire to spread evil and defy Eru in every sense.
